Barcelona is a lively, friendly city with lots to do and see. On arriving at Barcelona airport we took the airport bus to Placa De Catalunya. We stayed in an apartment just off La Rambla, the apartment was booked through www.holidayrentals.co.uk. and was very homely and well equiped. It was in an ideal location for all the main tourist attactions and the metro.

Barcelona is easy to get around, you see more by walking but if you don't have the energy for that the tourist buses do day passes and you can hop on and off as many times as you like. The buses stop at all the main tourist sights and go as far out as the Nou Camp Stadium.

The city has a big harbour and if you like seafood the restuarants on the harbour front are well worth a visit.
Take a ride on the cable car up to Parc De Montjuic for wonderful views of the city and ports. The park offers art galleries, museums, theatres and is home to the Olympic Village and Olympic Stadium used for the 1992 games.

The Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's unfinished church is breath taking and a must see attraction. If you like the work of Gaudi a visit to Park Guell is well worth the visit. The park is a colourful creation with ceramic animals in the Gran Placa Circular. Keep your eyes open in the park for the small green parrots which fly between the palm trees.

The area around La Rambla and Passeig de Gracia are were you will find all the shops and departments stores. H&M and Zara are much cheaper in Spain than the UK and both have big flagship stores on the Passeig de Gracia.
La Boqueria Market is situated just off La Rambla and is the best market I have ever seen. It is full of fresh fruit, fish, meats, herbs & spices; the way in which the food is displayed is a mass of colour and beauty.

For any football fans a visit to the Nou Camp stadium is a must. The stadium and museum tour is good value for money and gives you the oppertunity to see the inside of the stadium and stand on the hollowed turf and take in the breathtaking size of the stadium. The tour guides spoke excellent English and were very knowledgeable on the history of the club. The megastore gives you the chance to pick up your Barcelona FC souvenirs.

Overall Barcelona offers something for everyone of all ages and is a must if you like city breaks.
