Holiday reviews for Prague

We visited Prague and stayed with friends in the city centre but flew with Rynnair from Standstead. We had no problems with the flight. We used the white van taxis outside the airport that were recommended and they dropped us off exactly where we wanted to go. We did use public transport a lot, the metro and trams which are great fun - you buy a ticket and have to put it into the machine on the tram, there is a time limit on the tickets. We were warned that pickpockets are rife especially around the city centre and on the public transport. The food is great, must try the dumplings although fresh veg seemed to be hard to get on the menu. Prague city is fantastic and the shops are wonderful. Lots of amber and gold and garnets jewellery shops. Rows and rows of jewellery just couldnt choose! The castle is lovely to visit which we did at night as it was lit up. We visited a Bagel Cafe (internet cafe); which was a treat, so many different kinds of bagels and fillings and unlimited choices of coffee. Brilliant! There is so much to see and do and not just drink the beer! Try a hot toddy by the river. lovely!

Prague is a perfect place for a weekend break, great flights from Liverpool airport.
We used public transport from the airport to the hotel Ambassador, you can get a ticket for 200 Crowns (approx ?5); for 72 hours unlimited travel. Catch 119 bus to metro station then a few stops to city centre.

The Ambassador hotel is on Wensleslas Square but worry about the location as this hotel is a great find.
The rooms are great, the staff can't do enough for you and the food is very good at reasonable proces.

Theres loads to do in Prague but a must is a city tour a must see is the castle, river and old square both day and night.

Food and drink prices not too bad even on Old Square.
